Structured youth activities are available for parents who would like to attend with children 4-8.

¡Ven a celebrar el  Día Nacional de los Senderos! Después de cinco años de esfuerzos continuos de mantenimiento y restauración, volvemos a Coal Basin Ranch, una antigua mina de carbón. Ven a conocer este espectacular lugar mientras trabajamos en el mantenimiento de algunas rutas reconocidas mundialmente para el  ciclismo de montaña y el senderismo.

This trail is one of the most highly used climbing access routes on Independence Pass and has a critical need for trail improvements to increase the sustainability, usability and safety of this trail as it grows in popularity!

This season, we're hosting a weekend of backpacking and caring for the Lost Man Loop. RFOV will provide dinner on Friday and Saturday and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and if there's any personal backpacking gear items you don't have, we can work with you to find the gear needed. Esta temporada, RFOV será el anfitrión de un fin de semana de acampada (de mochila al hombro) y de darle un poco de cariño al sendero Lost Man Loop. Snowmass Falls Ranch Noxious Weeds Removal

Snowmass Falls Ranch is a 650-acre parcel that serves as a gateway to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. The area has over a century of ranching history as well as valuable wildlife habitat and stunning scenery. In its transition to public land, a key objective is the removal of biennial noxious weeds and the spreading of native seeds in order to restore the native plant community. Come help us restore this beautiful, wilderness-adjacent property for the third year in a row.

Snowmass Falls es un área de 650 acres que sirve como puerta de entrada a la Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. Join RFOV for a weekend (Friday evening - Sunday evening) of car camping and trail maintenance at the iconic Maroon Bells. There's a reason that the Four Pass Loop is one of Colorado's most visited backpacking routes.This year, RFOV volunteers will access this beautiful Loop through the East Fork Trailhead and spend four days caring for the segment of this well-loved trail system between West Maroon pass and Frigid Air pass along with our professional trail crew.

Hay una razón por la que el Four Pass Loop es una de las rutas de acampada más visitadas de Colorado. Durante cuatro días, los voluntarios trabajarán junto al Equipo de Expertos de RFOV en el mantenimiento de varios senderos entre West Maroon Pass y Frigid Air Pass. Beavers are important engineers of watershed health in Colorado. Once decimated, their population is now rebounding and they need your help! Through our Middle Thompson Creek BDA project, we will improve the vitality of the riparian area and increase the habitat potential for beavers and important wetland species.

Los castores son importantes ingenieros que mantienen la salud de las cuencas hidrográficas en Colorado. Después de estar al borde de la extinción, hoy  su población se está recuperando, ¡pero aún necesita tu ayuda!  Durante nuestro proyecto de “dique artificial inspirado en castores” (BDA por su sigla en inglés) en Four Mile Park, trabajaremos en vitalizar la ribera del río para aumentar el hábitat potencial para castores y otras  especies de humedal.

Like many of the trails within the Glenwood Canyon, the Jess Weaver trail was heavily damaged by the Grizzly Creek wildfire in 2020 and the subsequent flooding during the summer of 2021. For the first time since 2021, RFOV volunteers will return to the Jess Weaver Trail for a Community Project in partnership with the USFS, National Forest Foundation and Contour Logic.

Como muchos de los senderos dentro del Cañón de Glenwood, el sendero Jess Weaver fue gravemente dañado por el incendio forestal de Grizzly Creek en 2020 y las inundaciones posteriores durante el verano de 2021. Home to settlers, pioneers, war heroes, and iconic Wild-West characters, such as Doc Holliday, this easily accessible cemetery offers residents and visitors a taste of history among beautiful vistas along the trail. RFOV volunteers will continue the tradition of stewarding this historical landmark through the closing off social trails, formalizing existing trails, stabilizing degrading slopes, and trimming back vegetation.

Este cementerio es hogar de colonos, pioneros, héroes de guerra y personajes icónicos del Salvaje Oeste, como Doc Holliday. Ofrece a los residentes y visitantes una muestra de la historia, acompañada de hermosas vistas, a lo largo de un sendero de fácil acceso.

 Los voluntarios de RFOV continuarán la tradición de cuidar este importante lugar trabajando en el cierre de senderos sociales, la formalización de los senderos existentes, la estabilización de pendientes degradadas y el manejo de la vegetación.

Come out to help provide needed improvements to this beautiful park on the banks of the Roaring Fork River in the Town of Basalt! Volunteers will help to to formalize the paths and boat ramps that traverse the park and provide access to the river, install seating pads and picnic tables, and revitalize garden beds by planting native flowering shrubs!

Ayúdanos a darle unas mejoras muy necesarias a este parque a orillas del río Roaring Fork en Basalt. Junto con otros voluntarios, ayudaremos a demarcar los caminos del parque  y las rampas de botes por las que se accede al río, a instalar bancas y mesas de picnic y a revitalizar el jardín plantando arbustos nativos.

Talbott's Burning Mountain Trail - Invasive Removal

Come join RFOV as we partner with New Castle Trails, RFMBA, and the New Castle Climate and Environment Commission to complete much needed Scotch Thistle, Russian Thistle, and Kochia removal along the corridor of this beloved mountain biking and hiking trail. Talbott's Burning Mountain trail features an impressive climb up the grand hogback formation to massive views of the mountains surrounding New Castle. Following the completion of the project--Down Valley Brewing will host volunteers for a celebration!

Este proyecto es una colaboración entre  RFOV, New Castle Trails, RFMBA y la Comisión de Clima y Medio Ambiente de New Castle. Trabajaremos en la eliminación de tres especies de plantas invasoras (cardo borriquero, cardo ruso y kochia) a lo largo de este sendero popular entre ciclistas y caminantes. El sendero Talbott's Burning Mountain asciende por la imponente formación geológica conocida como “Grand Hogback”,  con vistas espectaculares a las montañas que rodean New Castle. Una vez finalizado el proyecto, ¡Down Valley Brewing recibirá a los voluntarios para una celebración!

In celebration of Latino Conservation Week, RFOV is offering a bilingual project in partnership with City of Glenwood Springs and Wilderness Workshop. Come and enjoy the outdoors while helping the City of Glenwood Springs to replant the Northern portion of Veltus Park with native trees, shrubs, grasses and forbs. Open to all with guaranteed translation services provided.

En celebración de la Semana de Conservación Latino, RFOV está ofreciendo un proyecto bilingüe en asociación con la ciudad de Glenwood Springs y Wilderness Workshop. Avalanche Creek Overnight

In 2024, the US Forest Service installed a bridge at the Hell-Roaring Creek crossing along the Avalanche Creek Trail! With the bridge installed, numerous reclamation and trail-maintenance projects along these beautiful trails have opened-up and we need your help!! Come join RFOV for a weekend of car camping, delicious dinners and breakfasts provided by RFOV, and impactful trail work alongside RFOV's professional Trail Crew! Space is limited and a $75 deposit (refunded upon completion) is required for all participants!

Four Pass Loop Overnight

There's a reason that the Four Pass Loop is one of Colorado's most visited backpacking routes. We'll access this beautiful Loop through a trailhead TBD and spend four days caring for a segment of this well-loved trail system along with our professional trail crew. RFOV will provide breakfasts and dinners, and if there's any personal backpacking gear items you don't have, we can work with you to find the gear needed. Space is limited and a $75 deposit (refunded upon completion) is required for all participants!

For our third 30th anniversary project, we celebrate our history as the local volunteer arm of the White River National Forest and the Maroon-Snowmass Wilderness! Join us for a day of trail maintenance and stewardship under the iconic Maroon Bells!

Snowmass Falls Ranch Fence Removal

Recently acquired by Pitkin County Open Space and Trails in 2024, Snowmass Falls Ranch is a 650-acre parcel that serves as a gateway to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. The area has over a century of ranching history as well as valuable wildlife habitat and stunning scenery.  In its transition to public land, a key objective is the removal of unnecessary barbed wire within the property. Come help us restore this beautiful, wilderness-adjacent property to benefit wildlife movement for the second year in a row.

Butler Creek Beaver Dam Analogue (BDA) Overnight

Beavers are important engineers of watershed health in Colorado. Once decimated, their population is now rebounding and they need your help! Through our Butler Creek BDA project, we will improve the vitality of the riparian area and increase the habitat potential for beavers and important wetland species. This is an overnight project with breakfast and dinners provided by RFOV, bring your camping gear! Advanced registration required with a refundable $75 deposit.

Marble Stewardship Extravaganza

Join us in Marble for a full day of stewardship projects, learning opportunities, and plenty of time to just hang out. We'll work on trail and restoration projects at the in-town Marble Mill Site, the Marble Wetlands, and a nearby US Forest Service Trail TBD.

Camping in town is available on Friday night with pre-registration and a $50 refundable deposit, and breakfast and dinner are included.

After four years of continuous restoration efforts, we're going back to Coal Basin Ranch to restore more natural areas at the site that was once the base for a large-scale coal mining operation. Come learn about this beautiful area while healing degraded soils and plant communities. Join us this National Trails Day and get outside!

Structured youth activities are available for parents who would like to attend with children 4-8.

RFOV volunteers will continue the tradition of stewarding this historical landmark through the closing off social trails, formalizing existing trails, stabilizing degrading slopes, and trimming back vegetation.
