After five years of continuous restoration efforts, we're going back to Coal Basin Ranch to restore more natural areas at the site that was once the base for a large-scale coal mining operation. Come learn about this beautiful area while preventing streambank erosion, healing degraded soils and bolstering native plant communities.
Little Explorers: Free, structured youth activities for students 4-8 while parents and guardians volunteer is offered at this project.
For students 8 and under; free; on-site; for all interested parents and guardians who would like to attend as volunteers
Offered for the first half of the project day - 9am-12:30 pm
Activities will include structured nature play and an introduction to stewardship
Registration: All participants of all ages must be registered individually.
Waiver: All participants must complete a waiver.
Cancellation: It takes a lot of staff and project partner time to plan and organize volunteer events. If you need to cancel, we ask that you let us know by emailing info@rfov.org 48 hours in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Worksite Location: This project will take place at worksites between 100 feet and 1.5 miles away from the parking lot that will require volunteers to traverse over potentially steep terrain.
