Join us Sunday, May 19th at 8:00 am for the Mt. Sopris run-off. A 10-mile and 25k both utilizing the iconic “Up & Over” single track trail in a point-to-point race taking runners from the start at Flying Dog Ranch on Prince Creek Road up and over and ending at Rock Bottom Ranch in Basalt, CO.
Home to settlers, pioneers, war heroes, and iconic Wild-West characters, such as Doc Holliday, this easily accessible cemetery offers residents and visitors a taste of history among beautiful vistas along the trail. RFOV volunteers will continue the tradition of stewarding this historical landmark through the removal of old fencing, closing off social trails, formalizing existing trails, and stabilizing degrading slopes.

Originally settled and worked by the Glassier family in the early 1900s, Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) purchased Rock Bottom Ranch in 1999. RFOV will be working along a segment of their 113-acre property to improve two different public trails that connect to the Rio Grande Trail/Bike Path.

Come join RFOV and the Eagle River Coalition for a weekend overnight to create Zeedyk rock structures in the Bohr Flats wetland area near Bond, CO. RFOV will provide breakfasts and dinners and can work with you to find needed gear.
Join us for one or both days of a weekend campout in Marble full of stewardship projects, learning opportunities, and plenty of time to just hang out. We'll work on trail and restoration projects at the in-town Marble Mill Site, the Marble Wetlands, and a nearby US Forest Service Trail.
Special post-project and pre-dinner self-guided activities will be available. Camping in town is available on Friday and Saturday nights with pre-registration, and breakfast and dinner are included.

Pitkin County Open Space and Trails recently adopted a management plan to guide the future of the Coke Ovens Open Space. While some of this property continues to support horses and Western heritage activities, many areas contain old and unnecessary fencing. Join us near the small town of Redstone to help improve wildlife mobility and access to Coal Creek by removing barbed wire from this beautiful property.

Recently acquired by Pitkin County Open Space and Trails, Snowmass Falls Ranch is a 650-acre parcel that serves as a gateway to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. The area has over a century of ranching history as well as valuable wildlife habitat and stunning scenery. In its transition to public land, a key objective is the removal of unnecessary barbed wire within the property. Come help us restore this beautiful, wilderness-adjacent property to benefit the wildlife movement.
Situated at 11,100 feet, Betty Bear Hut is one of the Jewels of the 10th Mountain Division Huts. In 2021, a major wind event caused significant tree windthrow in the vicinity of the hut and severely increased the wildfire risk to the structure and surrounding forest. Come spend a summer weekend at the Betty Bear Hut and work to mitigate this increased threat. Space is limited.
In continuation of the hard work on this trail by RFOV volunteers and Pitkin County Open Space and Trails staff throughout the season, we will be providing finishing work and maintenance for sustainability on this beloved horse and hiking trail.
RFOV is joining Wilderness Workshop on September 15 for the ¡Celebremos al Aire Libre! event in honor of Latino Conservation Week! Come and enjoy the outdoors while helping the City of Glenwood Springs with a riverside restoration access project on the banks of the Colorado River. Beavers are important engineers of watershed health in Colorado. Once decimated, their population is now rebounding and they need your help! Through our Butler Creek BDA project, we will improve the vitality of the riparian area and increase the habitat potential for beavers and important wetland species.
After three years of continuous restoration efforts, we're going back to Coal Basin Ranch to restore more natural areas at the site that was once the base for a large-scale coal mining operation. Come learn about this beautiful area while healing degraded soils and plant communities.

To help reduce the risk of another large wildfire in Glenwood Springs, join with fire experts to learn about wildfire behavior and ecology while continuing the years-long effort to mitigate wildfire risk.

RFOV and our host Aspen Valley Land Trust invite you to a community social around the bonfire, open to all ages. RFOV will provide snacks and drinks. Please bring appropriate winter clothes and if possible, a camp chair and a headlamp/flashlight. No dogs are allowed at Coffman Ranch as it is a working ranch.
