Our Vision

Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers aims to foster a diverse and engaged community of outdoor stewards working collectively for the benefit of our public lands.

Our Work

Our Values

Tangible Results:  We strive to make a lasting, positive impact on our landscape and leave participants feeling empowered to contribute to their communities.

Volunteerism and Collective Action:  We believe we are made stronger through the collective efforts of our individual contributions. We implement stewardship projects centered on community involvement that are satisfying, rewarding, and fun.

Stewardship:  We believe our community shapes, and is shaped by, its surroundings. We strive to be active participants in the health of our shared outdoors.

Sustainable Outdoor Recreation:  Outdoor recreation is critical to the health and wellbeing of individuals and our local economies. We aim to ensure our outdoor recreation resources and user-behavior work hand in hand with healthy landscapes.

Inclusivity and Accessibility:  We strive to create opportunities for the diverse individuals in our community.

Collaboration:  We believe our impact is multiplied through the unique strengths of our partners and stakeholders. We promote effective collaboration in everything we do.

Accountability:  We are committed to promoting transparency, responsibility, and integrity in all that we do.

Empathy, Respect, and Kindness:  We aim to treat everyone with dignity, openness, and kindness.

2026-2030 Strategic Plan

Our Strategic Plan guides how we grow, adapt, and deepen our impact—on the land and in our community. It outlines our priorities for stewardship, education, equity, partnerships, and organizational resilience, ensuring our work remains effective, inclusive, and responsive to the challenges facing our public lands. This roadmap helps us move from vision to action, while staying grounded in our mission and values.

Our History

RFOV was founded on a simple belief: when people come together to care for the places they love, lasting change is possible. Since 1995, RFOV has grown from a small grassroots effort into a regional leader in stewardship—engaging thousands of volunteers each year in trail building, habitat restoration, youth education, and conservation partnerships across the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. Our history is one of long-term commitment, collaboration, and showing up year after year for our public lands.

Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

Stewardship is stronger when more people feel welcome, valued, and connected to the places we care for. We are committed to fostering an inclusive community where people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences can participate in caring for our public lands. This commitment shapes how we design programs, build partnerships, engage youth, and show up for our community—ensuring stewardship is accessible, respectful, and shared.
