CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF STEWARDSHIP

A Toast to Trails was a milestone moment we’ll never forget. It brought together founding partners, longtime supporters, and new friends to reflect on how far we’ve come—and to look ahead at where we’re going.

For the first time in our history, we paired this celebration with a successful fundraiser. Thanks to your support—through donations, silent auction participation, and simply showing up—we raised critical funds and sparked renewed commitment to caring for our public lands. Your contributions directly support our work: hands-on restoration projects, community education, and trail stewardship across the region.

To everyone who joined us—thank you. Your energy and generosity continue to shape our future.

If you couldn’t attend but would still like to support our mission, you can:

Cheers to the next 30 years of impact!

ON THE GROUND: FIELD HIGHLIGHTS

May was a powerhouse month for our Adopt-A-Trail and Group Programs! Jaywalkers Lodge contributed 60 hours to building drainages and planting native seeds on Light Hill in Basalt. White Horse Yoga celebrated the completion of the long-standing mono wall project on Three Gulch, and Osmia Skin Care gave Ruthie’s Run a much-needed refresh.
We also joined forces with Holy Cross Energy on the Storm King Trail, and the New Castle Climate and Environmental Coalition lent a hand on Colorow Trail.

A special shoutout to Gay for Good and Momenta Recovery for their great work on community projects. It’s been an incredible season so far—huge thanks to all our partners for their commitment and care!

Spruce Up Success at CRES

We had an incredible day at Crystal River Elementary for our Spruce Up Your School event! The students brought amazing energy and excitement as they helped restore and care for a special section of their school grounds. Their enthusiasm was contagious—and their creativity shined through in a beautiful, heartfelt poster they made for our staff, Ben and Carly, calling it “the best day of the school year.”

Big thanks to the CRES community for their spirit and stewardship!

Nature Play, the Stewardship Way

We celebrated National Trails Day with our Little Explorers program at Coal Basin Ranch! Field instructors Maddie and Noah led a fun-filled day of hiking, scavenger hunts, and hands-on learning. Youth participants pulled invasive weeds and discovered how everyone—even the youngest among us—can help care for our public lands.

Don’t miss our next Little Explorers adventure at Coffman Ranch on September 28th!

Volunteer of the Month:
Zuleika Pevek

Big cheers for Zuleika — she’s already rocked four projects this season (and counting)! Whether she’s swinging a tool or sharing a laugh on the trail, we love the energy she brings to each project.

Here’s what Zuleika has to say: “I love volunteering with RFOV for all the reasons: connecting with my community, connecting with the land, doing solid, physical labor and getting that sense of being a part of something valuable. As someone who recharges in the outdoors, RFOV gives me the chance to come back to myself by helping out.”

Want to find that same connection and fulfillment? Come get your hands dirty and your heart full — just like Zuleika! Check out our upcoming projects, register, and be a part of something special!
